Makefile

Overview

Makefile is a commonly used name for build script which is interpreted by "make" command. The make command is most common way to build C/C++ programs. There are some differences between platforms in the way makefile is interpreted, so usually if you look for a solution make sure you add platform or developer environment name to your search. You also need to understand that there are many (better?) ways to build C/C++ programs - for example using CMake or Autotools. They are described in C++ Build Tips & Tools topic.
